The £400-to-£500 price point for AV receivers is always hotly contested and Denon is often a winner. Attractively priced at £449.99, Denon's new AVR-1910 AV receiver looks like another contender to be king of the crop.
The receiver outputs 90 watts per channel. Decoding options include the high-defintion surround sound formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The AVR-1910 is also one of the first products to feature Dolby Pro Logic IIz. Pro Logic IIz provides an extra dimension by passing signals through to a second pair of front speakers mounted above the standard ones - this should prove particularly effective in scenes featuring, say, rain falling down.
The Audyssey Dynamic Volume keeps the volume constant so there are no dips or sudden spikes in the output - especially handy for late night listening.
The receiver is the perfect candidate for being the hub of an AV setup. It has 4 HDMI inputs and can upconvert analogue inputs to 1080p. All speaker sockets are high quality, allowing decent cable to be used.
When setting the receiver up or changing settings, the menu buttons on the front panel will prove to be a convenient touch.
Here at Hi-Fi Stereo, we've sold a lot of Denon AV receivers over the years and the AVR-1910 will no doubt prove to be another popular model. |
